The development and growth of the Internet, as we know it, is one of the most significant events of the modern world. Basically, the Internet had two parent networks whose joining began the ongoing evolution: the US Military had developed a network of communications methods to be used in the event of telephone downtime during wartime; Academics/Researchers, who used early networks for the global sharing of information.

Today, the Internet consisting of a worldwide network of thousands computer networks that use the specific protocols to facilitate data transmission and exchange. It is probably the largest Wide Area Network in the world and is now available for us all to enjoy.
